LADIES' DAY ACTIVITIES

Saturday, April 18th

Girls -- this page is for you!
And Guys -- PLEASE show this to your XYL,
so she can plan her fun activities for Hamboree too!

No tour bus or pre-registrations this year.

Instead, Rosemary Hunt, XYL of Lyle Hunt - NØNU, has volunteered to lead a caravan for the activities, and we will supply maps so you won't get lost. You can sign up when you arrive at the convention or at the Friday night banquet.

Get together in groups of 4 or 5, with one volunteering as driver, and take in the following:

(Be sure to click on any links below for more information on each)

  • Container Gardening Program

Your presenter will be Ed Camenzend, Custom Potting Specialist at Earl May. Ed is a Master Gardener & Past State Chair of the Iowa Landscape Design Critics Council, with additional training in Iowa State University's Shade Tree short courses. He can answer all your gardening & landscaping questions. (And he hinted at doorprizes!)

  • Lunch Stop
    The Garden Cafe

    Noon

Almost next door to Earl May, this popular locally owned eatery offers soups, salad bar, sandwiches, full dinners, Greek entrees, and dessert, all for moderate prices.

  • Mini "Antiques Roadshow"
    T&S Antiques
501 S. Lewis Blvd., Sioux City
    1:15 - 2:30

This is your 3900 Club webmistress' shop. If you want that family heirloom identified, bring it with you. There also will be Hamboree discounts offered on any of our merchandise!

  • Our Area History
    Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center
900 Larsen Park Road, Sioux City
    2:45 - ?

You visited here several years back, but this beautiful facility has been greatly expanded since then

    Sergeant Floyd Welcome Center
A very short walk directly West of the Interpretive Center, this former Corps of Engineers boat is a wonderful look at the early days of navigation and settlement along the Missouri River

  • Final Optional Stop
    Siouxland Humane Society
    1015 Tri-View Ave.
    Open until 5:00

Directly North of your last two stops, across Gordon Dr. -- A beautiful, contemporary facility designed with both pets and people in mind -- Exists solely on adoption fees and public donations

We suggest that you gather in the Marina Inn lobby 9:15-9:30 to organize your car pools
